Gastrointestinal Diet and Digestive Health
Nutrition Balance offers dietitian-guided gastrointestinal diets in West Hartford Center — one-on-one with Romely Ritoli, R.D., CD-N, in person or by telehealth, with fees reimbursed by several health plans. Individualized dietary modifications address acid reflux, celiac disease, Crohn's disease, irritable bowel syndrome, ulcerative colitis, and food allergies, intolerances or sensitivities.
Dietary modifications for disorders of the intestinal tract are designed to alleviate symptoms, correct nutritional deficiencies, and address the primary cause of symptoms whenever possible. Nutritional care must be individualized for all patients with diseases of the intestines. Increased consumption of energy, protein, vitamins and minerals may be necessary to replace nutrients lost as a result of impaired digestive and absorptive capacity.
In addition to relief of GI symptoms, the long-term benefits of changing your diet can also be significant: assistance in controlling serious diseases such as diverticulitis; fewer debilitating GI attacks; and possibly long-term help in the prevention of colon cancer. All clear improvements in the quality of life.
